Security Clearance Form
Security clearance enables individuals to have access to confidential, secret, or top secret information within the company or agency for which they work. The individual's employer must authorize the security clearance request through the Department of Defense (DoD). In order to be considered for security clearance, a security clearance from must be completed. When completing the security clearance form, the individual will have to divulge both personal and professional information. This information will be used by the DoD to determine if the individual is an acceptable security risk.
After reviewing the security clearance form, the DoD will determine if the individual's request for security clearance will be approved or denied. If the security clearance is denied, based on the information submitted on the security clearance form, then the individual will receive a Statement of Reasons (SOR) from the DoD. The SOR will detail the allegations against the individual that led to the denial for security clearance. The individual will be given the opportunity to respond to these allegations.
It is recommended that individuals seek the advice and counsel from an experienced attorney before answering the allegations listed in the SOR. An attorney can help the individual understand that criteria and guidelines used by the DoD to approve or deny an individuals request for security clearance. Individuals that retain expert legal representation during this process have a more thorough understanding of the expectations set forth by the DoD and can better formulate satisfactory answers to address the allegations in the SOR.
